FAQ:  Allergic Reactions - Allergy

Question:
Dental Implant Metal: I am allergic to nickel; is there any nickel in the material used for implants? ... Visitor from CA

Answer:
In the better grade of implant systems nickle is not included. Implants themselves are generally commerical grade titanium but the abutment and crowns could have nickle in them so make sure your dentist is aware of your condition.

There are so many new systems and alloys used that general statements do not apply. The competition for lower prices can bring in cheaper alloys containing nickle in some implant systems.
