Question:
New Bridge - No Contact: I have done a 4 unit bridge on the bottom left. But it does not have any contact on the upper teeth. Some space is there.
I asked my dentist and she says that because they are fake teeth they may break.
But I don't feel right that all my contact is just on the right side. What is right? ...Visitor from MD
Answer:
A bridge is a porcelain fused to metal prosthesis that is a non-removeable tooth replacement.
It sounds like yours is removable. If it is weak it may break as it is made most likely out of acrylic. There may be reasons why it is out of occlusion (can't touch the other teeth).
You need to ask your dentist if this was done as a temporary situation. Do you have supereruption (teeth dropped down) that means there is no space and the dentist is just
trying to stop further supereruption?
NO matter what the problem, show it to your dentist, tell them you need teeth to touch on both sides of your mouth and to fix it. Otherwise go for a second opinion.
