Question:
Bridge versus Implants: My 2 front teeth were knocked out in 1984. I got a bridge put in in 1986.

The bridge was re-done in 1993. Currently the gum tissue where the 2 front teeth were has receded. I need to know if I should get implants or another bridge?

Regardless, I have to get a bone density procedure. I want a lifetime cure. ...Visitor from CT

Answer:
It is of coure impossible to give you advice without seeing the exact situation.

But in general: Implants give a wonderful result if there is enough bone. If there is not enough bone sometimes bone can be built up so the implants can be placed. Remember that if you go with implants you will still need to replace the crowns that the bridge is attached to on either side of the space where the teeth are missing.

Asking for a lifetime solution is pretty hard to provide. Things wear out and need to be replaced no matter how well things are done. Implants do provide a longer term solution than bridgework does so that may be a great option.
