Question:
Recementing Bridgework over and over: I had my permanent bridge cemented in several times it keep from loosening up and in time it comes out again.
What is wrong? The dentist is doing all he can to get it to stay in. I grind my teeth at night while sleeping.

Answer:
If you have a bridge that keeps coming loose then something is wrong.
It is easier for a bridge to stay in than a single crown. Either the teeth holding your bridge in were prepared too short or not retentive enough.
Also the fact that you grind your teeth at night can also be rocking your bridge loose. Possibly
a protective mouth guard worn at night could relieve the grinding stress on your bridge.
Since you already have a dental bridge you may be interested to know that the missing tooth that your
bridge replaces, may have been able to be replaced by a single dental implant.
A dental implant helps keep the bone for being resorbed away,and prevents having to cut down the adjacent teeth for the bridge. It is also easier to floss and clean around than having to clean underneath the bridge.
If you are not receiving any satisfaction from your current dentist, I would recommend a second opinion from another dentist in your area. He or she would be better able to evaluate why your bridge keeps
coming out.
