Question:
Discomfort of bridge: I have a bridge tooth in upperfront that feels very clumpy at the back with a gap at the top where food lodges in and causes pressure on the gum.
This anchor tooth moves enough to get food under again causing discomfort until I am able to brush it out. Constant brushing though, makes my gums sore.
I went back to the dentist and explained all the problems. He filed down the glued bit but the gap remains. I am embarrassed to keep going back. I am so unhappy. ... Visitor from United Kingdom
Answer:
The tooth should not be moving at all. The fact that it IS moving suggests that leakage may occur and cause failure.
Get a 2nd opinion from a different dentist or, better yet, a Prosthodontist.
Consider trying a Waterpik type of irrigation appliance to help clean areas that are inaccessible with a tooth brush. They are superb for removing food debri from difficult to clean bridgework.
