Video: Acid Erosion Treatment
GERD FAQ
Question:
Bulimia and tooth whitening: I am a recovering bulimic who still purges on occasion.
I have braces at the moment to correct my large open bite, and will be getting crowns soon to restore the proper proportions of my teeth, which likely wore down from the years of purging.
My teeth are very yellow, maybe greyish, and I am wondering what the effects of having a professional tooth whitening procedure (laser or otherwise...what are the options here, even?) would do for my wore down teeth?
I am most nervous about the contrast between the crowns I will soon get on my front teeth versus the rest of my teeth remaining. ...Visitor from Canada
Answer:
Teeth whitening may have some effect. Everyone's treatment need is different.
Patients who have totally overcome bulimia tend to consider "enamel replacements" for exposed teeth
through a combination of veneer and crown treatments.
Get some consults with dentists who can easily document successful treatment outcomes for other patients who have had symptoms similar to yours.
Ask to see pictures. Avoid dentists who have no pictures.
