GERD FAQ
Question:
BULIMIA: Causes and effects: Well, I've just recently started purging.
It has been a year at the least. I can already see the great damage that this disorder is causing me both mentally, emotionally, and physically.
But my concern for the moment is that my smile used to be one of several great features I had, but now it is gone. I had some nasty cavities that I know didn't help much.
I now have multiple tooth gaps on my top row, an overbite on my bottom row and actual breakage of individual teeth.
All of my teeth are now yellow ALL OVER! I am just asking, if there is anything you recomend that I can do to get at least what used to be my smile? ...Visitor from GA
Answer:
There is no question that bulimia can do some significant damage to your teeth, especially if you had some small problems before this started.
You have recognized that getting the situation under control is the first step. In our practice we have worked with many patients with similar problems.
Advances in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry products enable patients a wider range of choices for treating and overcoming the effects of bulimia, purging and GERD.
An exam is necessary to determine the different kinds of treatments or procedures that can be available to you for getting the changes you want for the teeth that have been affected. You probably have more treatment option than you imagine.
Treatment options can vary dramatically depending on degree of change wanted, the location of each affected tooth and the degree of treatment need for those teeth.
