Root canal and crown and post or removal? My tooth is so rotten and it keeps my mouth smelling no matter what I do.

It's so rotten and I don't know what to do. I saw a dentist and she recommended a root canal and crown and post. I just worry about closing the rot in.

Without seeing an xray, it is difficult to make an absolute recommendation.

However, based on your explanation you may want to hear all your options, especially the one towards getting an implant.

The cost you would spend on a Root Canal (RCT) - Core Build Up - Crown combination would only be slightly lower than an implant and crown.

Also, the prognosis for a root canal - crown combination may not be as good when so much tooth structure is missing due to decay.

The dental implant in most cases will give you a better long term prognosis in my opinion.
