Question:
Dental Crown Cement: I've had 2 reactions to cements that had clove oil in them.
I had burning in my mouth and throat and a burning, pins and needles sensation on my face and neck. The cement was Durelon and had to be removed. The TempGrip used worked fine.
The last cement used was MaxCem and I'm having the same reaction. It is most uncomfortable. What do I do now? ...Visitor from SC
Answer:
I am sorry to hear of your reaction to the dental cements.
The name of the substance that is causing your problems is probably eugenol.
There are many dental temporary and permanent cements that are non-eugenol. One of the oldest cements is zinc phosphate. The one that I use routinely is 3M Espe Rely-X.
I can't imagine why you are doing this research instead of your dentist, but you should be able to contact 3M at 1-888-364-3577 to be sure that this product is indeed eugenol free.
