Dental Phobia Search: Alternatives to medical management of dental anxiety and phobias
Question:
Help! I am dental phobic, and my lower 4th tooth/molar cracked. There was a filling in there for years. I thought about a week ago I had a cavity there, on the side. I am in the process of going on my Fiance's dental insurance, so I was waiting to get that. Last night after brushing my teeth, I felt a weird twinge, took a look and a piece of my molar was missing. 3/4 of the tooth is there.
I called my dentist and he can see me tomorrow. He said it will be rebuilt or he can use a crown. I am in NO pain. What kind of pain am I going to have afterwards? Do you think it can be repaired? Do you think I will need root canal? I had no sleep last night and I have been in a cold sweat over this, I had a bad experience with a different dentist when I was little. ...Visitor from NY
Answer:
You should expect no pain.
As far as the treatment plan is concerned you'd have to discuss it tomorrow with your dentist. By the way ask him if the treatment could be postponed until you'd get the insurance.
