Dry Socket: Symptoms - Relief

Question:
Wisdom tooth/dry socket: I got my wisdom teeth extracted a year ago.

Now I have an infection in the hole. My dentist says my bone never grew back and/or maybe my surgeon dug too deep.

Can I have a bone graft? I really don't want bone implants - I am afraid it will cause bad breath ...Visitor from NJ

Answer:
Talk to your dentist or an implant periodontist about a getting a "socket graft."

Many dentists provide socket grafts at the time of extractions that almost routinely eliminate all the healing problems and pain symptom misery associated with extraction healing and dry sockets.

For some patients, a socket graft can overcome the concern associated with adjacent teeth tilting due to the loss of bone subsequent to tooth removal.
