Dry Socket: Symptoms - Relief
Question:
I have been diagnosed with dry socket. This is my 13th day following my
surgery and I developed dry socket almost in the first week. How long does
it usually take to heal and how many dressings are required? Visitor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Answer:
I am sorry that you are having this trouble.
It is hard to say how long you will be hurting. One thing that definitely
has an impact is whether or not you are smoking. You do not mention that but if you do smoke please stop. The healing process will be much quicker.
Sometimes I use one pack for several days and sometimes I pack it daily
until things get better. It just depends on what I am looking at. One other question that I would start having at this time-frame is whether or not there is another problem developing in the area.
This is not much help by remote control. Your best bet is to get back with your dentist and ask for their input. I am sure that he or she is a compassionate person and will want to help you get over the problem.
