Question:
Enamel Loss - Erosion:
I seem to be be losing enamel on my two top front teeth. Also some of my teeth have ridges around the gum line which makes them sensitive when I brush. Is there a way to correct this? I have been using Crest Whitestrips... Is it safe to do so? ...Visitor from CA
Answer:
What you seem to be describing is gum recession due to toothpaste abrasion. This is a very common condition and should be checked by your dentist. We usually fill these areas in with tooth colored
filling material.
Crest White Strips can cause sensitivity in these areas. If sensitivity occurs, discontinue use and seek professional advice from your dentist.
Also discontinue use of whitening toothpaste and switch to regular toothpaste. Whitening toothpaste is more abrasive and can accelerate this abrasion.
Of course you need to have this checked by your dentist
