  • I had my braces when I was 15 to fix my teeth, but it involved removing an impacted tooth. So it was removed and I had the braces. I had it for about a year and it made my teeth better, however I developed an underbite (the dentist told me that this was the cause of removing the impacted teeth). She made me use some sort of hardened mold to fix the underbite, but we had a severe argument and we never finished. The braces are gone and I don't use the hardened mold anymore, and it's been 2-3 years since that happened. Is there anyway to fix my underbite? The left side of my teeth are aligned but when it gets to the center to the right there's an underbite. ...Visitor from Phillipines     (answer)

  • I am missing all of my lower left molars. Is it still possible for me to still get lower braces? ...Visitor from GA     (answer)

  • Alternative to Braces? My 12 year old son was told by his dentist and the orthodontist that he needs braces because his K9s have no room to grow down. When he was 3 years old he had to have surgery and have all his back baby teeth removed due to liquid epilepsy meds rotting his teeth. They put silver caps on all the spaces with spacers. He only has one of these caps left, but his teeth are spread too far apart and there is no room for his adult K9s. Is there any alternative to braces in his case? None of his teeth are crooked and he has no cavities and takes very good care of his teeth. Any suggestions you may have would be great! ...Visitor from TN     (answer)

  • Can you get braces after a bone grafting procedure or gum grafting procedure? ...Visitor from GA     (answer)

  • I had braces several years ago, which did not work out as planned, and I would like to get them again because I am very self-conscious about my teeth. I am also having problems with my gums and some root resorption (which I am about to have). However, a while back someone told me that because of the root resorption, I would never be able to get braces again. Can anyone tell me if this is true? ...Visitor from NY     (answer)

  • I never had a brace as a child and maybe i should have as I really hate my teeth! Its mainly my two front ones and the two either side of that, they seem to stick out a little. Is there anything that can be done without a brace? Roughly how much would that cost? I am 33 yrs old so not sure if that makes a difference! ...Visitor from UK     (answer)

  • I have an overbite. I had braces, but that didn't seem to work. My question is: Would a jaw alignment be the answer to correct my overbite? My overbite is D/T/ protrusion of my lower half teeth. ...Visitor from VA     (answer)

  • Reversing undesirable look from extractions and braces: I had 4 extractions (2 upper and 2 lower) plus braces for overbite and am very unhappy with facial appearance. My braces have been off about a year and I don't wear my retainer in hopes the teeth will migrate back. Is there anyway to reverse this like opening the bite and pulling teeth forward? I wouldn't even mind having the spaces. I am looking for any alternatives. I don't know why my orthodondist didn't explain this too me before extracting. ...Visitor from CA     (answer)

  • I had braces when I was 12 1/2 yrs old. Got them off when I was 15. I wore my retainers for many years faithfully. About a year ago, my bottom retainer broke. I am a full time student and don't have much money. I was dismayed to see one of my teeth moved. When I got my retainers, my tooth was like that until the retainer was put in aligned position. It was fine until my retainer broke. I am wondering if I should get a new retainer as soon as possible? My teeth are the same so far, except for that one tooth that moved. I'm getting nervous going this long without a retainer for fear of other teeth shifting sooner or later. Should I get a new retainer as soon as possible? They're very expensive nowadays. I hear they can go as high as $400 apiece. ...Visitor from IL     (answer)

  • My 6 yr old son's teeth are far apart each other. At what age can he start having braces to fix the alignment? Are there other kid-friendly braces other than the common wired ones? ...Visitor from NJ     (answer)

  • Overbite with missing teeth: I am 29 years old. I had braces as a teenager but later on about 10 years my wisdom teeth on the top came in and pushed my teeth forward. • I'm really worried. About 9 weeks ago my jaw started clicking and about 7 weeks ago my jaw locked completely. I've had braces for about a year now and to tell the truth I blame my orthodontist for everything that has happened. • I'm 20 years old and have had braces on for almost 3 years. The expected time was only 18 to 24 months for correction of an overbite and overjet. My bottom teeth are straight but my top teeth are not able to move all the way back on account of them hitting the brackets on the bottom. I do not like using wax, so I have been using things like oragel and taking ibuprofen. It's been a few weeks since my last visit to the orthodontist and now my cheek is quite swollen. Two of the sores are kind of yellow. When I'm eating I have a stinging in my cheek. Afterwards it appears that the yellow color is gone but then about an hour or so later it returns. • Braces or retainer? I'm 33 years old female and have gaps between 4 of my upper front teeth. About 8 years ago, I enquired about braces and was told that my facial profile/structure does not allow for braces. I did not understand that but on the dentist's recommendation, I've had the gaps bonded. However, I'm thinking of having the gaps closed by either braces or retainer.
