- I am a dentist. My father has been a chronic migraine patient for more than 30 years. All of the neurologists have diagnosed it as migraine pain with no definite cause. His attacks are severe and reach to 3 or 4 times in pain during a given week. He has taken all types of analgesics. I noticed that he does clench his teeth and has mild to severe attrition and flattened cusps. Please tell me what I can do for him. I read your articles about TMJ relationships and about occlusion. What are your
suggestions for treatment? ...Visitor from Egypt (answer)
- I was having weird headaches. Then I got a root canal done and started taking clmdamyicin for about 27 days. The headaches are almost gone but now when I lie down I have an aching in my chest. Could this be a side effect from the antibiotic or is the infection still in my system?...Visitor from OH (answer)
- TMJ, Bruxism, Migraine Headaches: I have had TMD treatment for years. Splints helped for a while but I was referred to a TMJ specialist who fit me with a night guard and a day guard. The night guard had a protrusion to stop bruxism. The day guard fit on my bottom teeth and increased jaw discomfort. The night guard seemed to help the bruxism, but neither eased clenching. Over time, the top guard was damaged. I wear the original splint my dentist gave me. I have migraines which have elevated to excrutiating pain waking me almost nightly. I have developed perio issues (bone loss) which have stumped my Periodontist. I am desperate for relief. ...Visitor from MO (answer)

Please help me with any information that you can. It would be greatly appreciated! ...Visitor from AR (answer)
- A year ago I was diagnoised with TMJ after being treated for everything from a sinus infection to an ear infection. With the TMJ I have horrible headaches that sometimes will not allow me to perform my job. I have been to an oral surgeon, and he removed all of my wisdom teeth and we waited to see if the problem got better, it didnt, actually it feels as if it got worse. This particular oral surgeon recommended a procedure, but stated that he could not do it because he does not have the faciities, so he sent me to a well known oral surgeon in Atlanta. This particular doctor told me that TMJ does not cause headaches and that I should see someone about braces to solve my problem, so of course I returned to my oral surgeon in my town and he stated that I did not need braces. My question is, what type of doctor is best trained to treat my problem? It seems like I am running around in circles trying to get the proper care. I have been suffering from this for at least a year now, I would simply appreciate some advice that could possibly lead me in the right direction to treating my problem.

- I have been having headaches for some time now since February 2002 and they have increased overtime. I have also had the occasional numbness in my left hand side and sometimes shakey hands (which have stopped for sometime now). I have seen three neurologists and done MRI all have proved that I do not have anything. They then suspect Complicated Migraine but I have not responded well to medication. I recently noticed that my wisdom toth on my right hand side is bent and may be touching the nerve area. I visited a Dentist who does not do general dentistry but rather diagnosed that I had Myofascial referral patterns of pain and gave me a gadget to put in my mouth to wear as he discoverd that I clench teeth and my mouth was all sore. He advised that I could if I wanted to, remove my wisdom tooth if that is what I wanted but that he did not think that's the cause of my problem. I see another Dentist next week. What do you think? Could the wisdom tooth have something to do with it as the device does not explain away some of the numbness I sometimes feel in my hands and some of the spasms I sometimes have. ...Ifueko in California (answer)
- I have been experiencing a stiff neck and some back pain for some time now. I went to the Dr. for back pain and he did a x-ray and ended up doing a MRI. It all came back okay. My pain is worse and the neck is getting more stiff and spreading into my shoulder. Most recently I have had pulses of pain on my lower jaw from an apparent tooth problem. I'm wondering can this be an abcessed tooth that is causeing me to feel bad and to have the stiff neck and back pain. ...Marv in Kansas (answer)
