- Makeover Candidate?: I just turned 44 and recently had to have all of my upper teeth pulled. I was in so much pain that at first it was a relief to have them pulled. But now I hate the way my denture looks and feels. I used to smile all the time and received lots of compliments on my smile. I rarely smile now and the denture has changed the shape of my lower face and it is not an attractive change. It has also changed my speech. I used to love to sing and now I can't. And to make matters worse, while eating a piece of soft beef jerky my denture cracked into two pieces. It no longer fits and eating is almost impossible because of the swelling and pain in my gums now when I glue the two pieces in. I am even more self conscious than I was before. I do have dental insurance thru my employer. Is there any hope for me to like how I look and talk again? Is my diet forever limited to liquids and soft foods avoid breaking the denture? I am so unhappy. I heard about dental tooth implants and wondered if they would work for me. ... Visitor from NV (answer)
