- Bone disappearing: When I was 18 yrs old, I got my tongue pierced. Recently I found out that the bottom ball was pressing on the lower part of my bottom front tooth for so many years that it actually ate up the bone. I also have periodontal disease. The bone is completely gone in both the two front bottom teeth. I'm only 37, my teeth only have about a good week left, they are that loose. - I recently got my labret pierced and was concerned about the metal eroding my gums. I got a fishtail design that is supposed to prevent this, but I am still concerned. I was wondering if dental backing for my post would help. I heard that it did. Where could I obtain some dental backing? Also, the piercing is healing beautifully. ...Danielle in WI (answer)
