Question:
I had an implant next to a front tooth in my upper jaw two years ago.
I can still feel my pulse around that implant but not to the extent that it bothers me. Is this something to be concerned about? ... Visitor from AZ
Answer:
The sensation about your implant is not normal. Your implant and your teeth should be symptom free.
You need to get this evaluated as soon as possible to avoid risking any more damage to the teeth or implant. Dental implants should be silent within the bone very very soon after they are placed.
No sensation about the implant is a good sign. Pain, throbbing and pulsing are symptoms that usually indicate an ailing or failing implant. If the trouble is caught early enough; sometimes the implant can be removed and another placed immediately or soon after.
The important thing to remember is the bone will repair itself and another implant can be entertained in the future. There are times where additional bone grafting procedures are needed. Early action can decrease the likelihood of additional bone grafts.
