Question:
Fosamax related problems? I have had pain in my upper right molar for 4 years.
I had an absess in an old root canal and had to have a second root canal in that same tooth. Since then I still have pain on and off and it tastes like a bloody sour discharge but I can not see anything.
My endodontist does not see anything and wants to do surgery to see if there is a problem with the channels. I have taken Fosamax and am worried about having surgery.
Lately I have pain in my lower left back molor and my dentist does not see any problem with the crown or root and would like to refer me back to the endodontist.
I am worried about jaw death. Should I be? Also I have periodontal disease that I'm have difficulty controlling ... Visitor from FL

Sorry you are having an ongoing problem with your teeth. Unfortunately, it's been my experience that if a tooth has been treated twice and is still painful, there is someting other than the nerve that is responsible.
It may have a crack, especially if you sense a discharge from the area.
Unless you have taken the Fosamax by IV or taken very large doses for a long time, I wouldn't be overly concerned about the jaw bone dying. The symptoms you describe sound more of dental origin than anything else.
I would go back and see the endodontist. I assume your dentist has checked the periodontal status of the teeth and has determined that the problem is most likely the nerve. Question the endodontist about the possibility of fracture in the upper right molar.
