Question:
Bite problem: I had a full set of crowns placed about 8 months ago.
These were made of lithium disilicate. Most of the teeth are fine but the 2 back upper and lower molars on both sides are painful when I chew food, especially hard food, and they are cold sensitive as well.
I have been going to the dentist weekly to try to solve the problem but she seems to be at a loss as to why it is still painful. Could an improper bite be causing these problems and how can I tell if my bite is correct? ...Visitor from TX
Answer:
My guess is that the bite is causing your problems.
It could also be that the nerves are affected by the bite pressure over several months.
I would suggest that you seek a second opinion with somebody who routinely does large restorative cases to evaluate your bite and your sensitivity.
