Question:
Mouth and thinning teeth: Over the past year my mouth has started feeling like I just ate a non ripe banana, which leaves your teeth feeling really gritty.
My tongue is yellow sometimes and now both of my top front teeth and one of my bottom front teeth have become thin and sensitive. Help.
I am afraid I'll loose my teeth. I've seen an ENT.. and my Dentist. The ENT put me through a battery of tests and found nothing. And my dentist says it's just stress. I'm afraid to bite into an apple. ...Visitor from PA
Answer:
You need to see a periodontist. It is suprising you weren't referred long ago.
ENT's know little about periodontal tissue health dynamics.
Saying that your problems are "stress related" isn't much of a confidence builder re: diagnostic skills in dentistry.
There could be issues related to metabolic events, systemic issues, oral ph imbalances, nutritional abnormalities, etc. Periodontists are the EXPERTS in tissue level analysis and should be able to determine what is going on, why and what options exist for treatment.
Nothing beats definitive diagnostic data that is collected via actual "study".
