- National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped
A public organization that is committed, through collaboration, to arranging comprehensive dental treatment and long-term preventive services to needy disabled, elderly or medically compromised individuals through a national network of direct service programs that involve more than 12,900 volunteer dentists and 2,700 volunteer laboratories. NFDH offers three direct-service programs.
- Volunteer Experience: Donated Dental Services
Dr. Ray Unland of Metairie, LA describes the Donated Dental Services program of NFDH and discusses his experiences with patients needing assistance. NFDH provides dental care to needy disabled, elderly or medically compromised individuals through a network of programs that involve volunteer dentists and laboratories.

The Food and Drug Administration issues warnings about potential allergic reactions and other reactions to the use of several popular denture cleaning products. Symptoms including gum tenderness, rash, urticaria,
respiratory distress and hypotension. The symptoms can be caused by misuse of the product (some patients reportedly using denture cleaners as a mouthwash) or by a known allergen contained within the formulation of different denture cleaners, an allergen known as persulfate.
